A VERY nice place to get away and relax, have some refreshing time with Jesus, good connecting time as sisters, and whatever else we wanted to do! :)

It's Official...

... no drugs here. And all the other background stuff checked out. So, I officially start at Verizon next Thursday, May 28th! Yay!

In the meantime, I'm going on Valerie's honeymoon with her to Florida... ...and I'm VERY excited!

My New Job!

Praise God! As of last Tuesday, I have been offered a job with Verizon Wireless as a Call Center Customer Service Representative! Pending the results of a drug test (real worried about that one), background checks, and other paperwork, I will start my training on May 28th.

The looking for a job process hasn't been very much fun. And even the hiring process with Verizon wasn't too much fun. It involved doing the online application, waiting a couple weeks before setting up a phone interview. The phone interview (which the recruiter forgot until I called her but called at exactly the right time after we rescheduled). Going to the center to take a computer assessment (much more involved than I thought it would be). Going back for a face-to-face interview where the first guy must have been in his afternoon slump because he kept yawning and trying to hide it behind the folder... while his eyes were glazing over. The second lady hadn't even glanced at my resume or file before she came in. Then being offered the job... contingent on lots of things.

Here's what I'm looking forward to:
Good Salary. Great Benefits from Day 1! Lots of acquaintances who work there and really love it. Great Benefits. A nutritionist and personal trainer at the office (who happens to be one of Ginger's best friends). Great Benefits. Oh, and great benefits.

I'm very excited to start! I've never worked for corporate America, so I'm a little nervous about that aspect. But I'm hopeful and very thankful to have gotten this position. God is good!

A Painful Decision

I sent out an email to a few friends quickly letting you know that I have been absolutely drained... and asking for prayer. Adam and Valerie called off their wedding (which was to happen Friday, May 22) last Tuesday. I'll spare all of the details as some are incredibly painful and hurtful. Both of them are hurting and sad. And both of them are dealing with things very differently. There have been a lot of ordeals that I never imagined happening. It's been exhausting.

Through it all, God has shown Himself so mighty! Just the fact that Matt and I are able to be here is definitely from the Lord. Originally, we weren't even supposed to be home yet from Thailand. Thank you, LORD! God has given verses, dreams, and encouragement in places that surprise us. God is teaching me more about what it means to 'mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice' (Romans 12:15).

Though Adam and Valerie are both in a lot of pain and are grieving a serious loss, we are proud of both of them for sticking with a hard decision. It takes courage. Please join us in praying for both of them--especially on Friday.

Two Weeks Have Gone By...

... since I last posted. It's crazy! Some of you are very thankful, but I for one, am way behind in my processing. I really like blogging because it helps me process.

Unfortunately, part of the reason I haven't blogged is because I've been so discouraged and down. I didn't want to be a bummer in what I wrote, but I didn't choose to focus on all the great things going on and write about those. Getting a job wasn't happening as fast as I wanted it to. Housing hasn't happened as fast as we wanted it to. And getting settled hasn't happened as fast as we wanted it to.

Thankfully, God has been doing great work in my heart these past few days, so I feel ready to blog again...

... soon. It's actually 3 am and I should go to bed. I've just spent the last two hours catching up on uploading pictures to Facebook--and reading the 50+ blogs that I've missed over the last two weeks.

Stay tuned.
